Senior Means Respect And Position, Not Maintaining Boundaries.
Senior citizens, a vast and beautiful part of India’s population – were once young too. When we look at their faces today, lined with years and wisdom, we often see only age. But that’s not the whole story. They were once full of energy, laughter, and dreams. They played, they ran, they climbed trees, fell down, and got back up. They have done multiple things that we don’t know about. And, they lived the same childhoods so many of us cherish today — full of games, street cricket, badminton in narrow alleys, or football in the heavy rains.
As they grew older, something started to change. Life slowly became more about responsibilities than recreation. The focus shifted from the playground to the classroom, then from the job to families. Somewhere between raising children, managing households, working long hours, and meeting society’s expectations, play quietly stepped out of their lives. Not because they didn’t love it anymore, but because they were told it was time to “grow up”. And growing up means you have to give up many of your dreams, which include sports, too.
For many, dreams shifted – not from lack of passion, but from necessity. The joy once found in kabaddi or kho-kho was replaced by the pride of building a home and securing a future. That became the new victory. But it’s worth asking: does growing older mean letting go of the joy of play, movement, and competition?
At Competdge, we believe age should never stop anyone from playing. Sports aren’t just for the young – they’re for the young at heart. They bring joy, spark connections, and help us rediscover parts of ourselves we may have forgotten.
We are creating spaces where seniors can relive that thrill – not for medals or records, but for the moment that truly matters. Because sometimes, the greatest victory is simply feeling alive again.
Because everyone deserves to play. And no one is ever too old to feel alive again.
